Teaching in public schools, we are given a generous 8 days of paid vacation during the summer break. Since we were going to be unable to make a trip back home to the states for Ryan’s brother’s wedding due to scheduling issues, we started looking around for cheap airline tickets elsewhere.

The Philippines

Every time we look for said cheap tickets, the search results always shows the Philippines as one of the cheapest destinations. However, neither of us had read into this archipelago like we have for other countries. Places such as Vietnam and Thailand always seem to be the most popular places to travel while in SE Asia, but we decided to take a chance, and we booked the tickets anyway. After talking to some of our friends who had been before, we immediately knew that we had chosen, albeit by chance, wisely. Two round trip flights from South Korea to Manila, and two round trip flights from Manila to Palawan. Total cost: ~$200 per person. Not too bad.

Puerta Princesa

Now we are back in Korea and we are beyond excited to share some of our experiences in the Philippines with you! This place was stunning and we had such an amazing time. Most of our trip was spent in El Nido, but we also stayed in Puerta Princesa for a couple of days as well. While we plan to someday explore some of the other and more famous locations the PH has to offer, Palawan was perfect for a vacation mixing adventure with relaxation and beauty.

El Nido

Palawan is beautiful and, although we limited ourselves to only two cities on one of the many islands this country has to offer, we highly suggest El Nido for adventure seekers, photographers, snorkelers, divers, and beach bums, alike. Check back later this week and next week for more pictures and details about our most recent stamp in our passport.
