We’ve been back in America for less than a week and we’ve already bought a house! Our little home might not be what most people would call a house, but it will serve that exact purpose for us while we tour our home country and stretch our legs on America’s vast highways. Stephanie and I made a trip to Jefferson, MO where we bought this beautiful blue bus to begin our journey, and we couldn’t be more excited. From the very beginning we hit roadblocks, but we knew this project would be a test of our know-how as much as our patience and resolve. I mean, how many vehicles fail, for the first time, five minutes after the title is signed and the money has been handed over?!

Now we know that we aren’t the first people to build out a small bus and live out of it while chasing adventures, nor will we be the last. We won’t claim to be breaking new ground in any way, but that shouldn’t detract from the endeavor. We have about a month of hard work ahead of us while we build the inner furnishings and Ryan has a lot of reading to do if he ever hopes to get this beast rigged with solar power and plugs to charge our laptops and cameras. Obviously there will be a bunch of posts to come and we’ll be sharing the inevitable setbacks as we venture into new territory with this project, but it should end in an amazing vessel that will carry us safely and comfortably into parts of America that we’re both itching to explore. The Hedgers Abroad may be back in America, but we’ll be traveling and exploring just like we’ve always done; this time, in an awesome bus!
