While we are constantly taking photos and sharing them with our readers and followers, 2015 was a great year of pictures for Hedgers Abroad. Looking back on 2015 as we start this new year, we can see that we’ve been improving in our photographic skills slowly, but our social media adventure has been a newly focused tool to grow our blog and reach more people. Hopefully we can inspire people with our photos and videos (or at least be interesting) in the twelve months to come. We had an amazing year in 2015 and would love to share our favorite Instagram Photos from this past year.
THAILAND
Our time in Thailand is one of the most memorable trips from last year and for good reason. We swam in amazing waters, skirted through Khaosan Road unscathed, relaxed in beachfront bungalows, and ate amazing street food. While we certainly plan to return to this beautiful country and explore the inland expanse of jungle and mountains, we found something special in the southern reaches of Trang and the brilliant escape a remote island can offer.
CAMBODIA
What more can I say about Cambodia? Easily in my top 3 destinations so far, this country was everything we’d hoped it to be and a great deal more. I cringe a bit when looking through photos of Cambodia, knowing that my abilities with a camera are scarcely adequate for capturing such a mesmerizing nation. Touring from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap in the Winter of 2015 was amazing and gave us so many memorable moments that I won’t try to breeze through here. My immense respect and love for Cambodia and her people absolutely means I will be returning at the next possible time, but for now I’ll just share of the best photos I managed to squeeze out while my hands were shaking with giddy culture ecstasy.
MALAYSIA
Malaysia was meant to be a quick layover. The country and culture affected us more than we expected as we feverishly rushed around in a state of excited merriment, seeing as much as possible and wishing we more time. Our pictures showed amazing culture and the terrific streets of Kuala Lumpur. Never before had we been as impressed with a capital city (in our limited experience, that is) outside of South Korea. While we haven’t done this vibrant country justice only visiting for two days, we are excited to visit Malaysia again and experience the rest of the country.
INDONESIA
There has never been a country we’ve visited with as many highs and lows as Indonesia. While we enjoyed our time in Bali immensely (save a few frustrations) we also experienced some serious lows where our safety and security was threatened. While we moved on from our experience and still had a great time in this country, there’s a hesitation when we talk about returning to Indonesia for a smarter second attempt. Thankfully, we were able to take a couple nice pictures because the country itself is absolutely beautiful.
KOREA
Finally we come to South Korea- our home country for the past few years. In 2015 we were still unable to tire of Korea’s splendor. We have the advantage of not being travelers and claiming some small amount of understanding in this country where culture and tradition is concerned, but every trip into new areas of this country is still as fresh as our first month exploring Asia on Korean soil. We’ve still not covered as much land as we’d hoped to in the past 12 months, but there’s still a good amount of time for us to delve deeper into Korea’s countryside in an attempt to better understand and share the beauty of this country. Rest assured that we will continue sharing the best pictures and videos we are capable of creating as we explore more of this amazing corner of the world.
