When in one of the world’s great cities, there are many options in regards to accommodations, ranging from 5 star luxury hotels, to  a traditional homestay in a hanok house, to basic hostels. Of all the possible places to stay, we have found a unique string of hotels that are in every corner of South Korea.

The “Theme Hotel” or “Love Motel” has a mixed reputation among Koreans. Many see these establishments as sanctums of debauchery and inappropriate conduct away from the critical public eye. On the other hand, these businesses offer a quirky and relatively quiet option when spending the night away from your own comforts. When in a foreign city, it is always fun to experience the most unique and strange things being offered, and we feel that your hotel experience should be included in this venture. The theme can range anywhere from a Batman suite to feeling like you’ve stepped into a Renaissance painting.

For the Lunar New Year holiday we ventured into Seoul and checked into a “Theme Hotel” to relax and be centrally located in the city we planned to explore for the next few days.
