This week’s photo challenge from the WordPress Daily Post is “Abandoned.” Since we have already posted images from the neighborhood of Anyang, where they evicted home owners in order to build new high rise apartments, we decided to knock a visit to an abandoned amusement park off of our bucket list in honor of this week’s challenge. Yongma Land has been closed for many years, but the property manager allows entrance for a very small fee for photographers and the like.
Bumper cars stored on the roof of an empty arcade.
A surprising number of intact lights for how long this site has been abandoned.
Many years have passed since this booth was used to excite park goers.
One of the creepier statues to be found around the park.
The Merry-Go-Round retains much of its paint and appeal, but the softer materials have begun to show much wear. Something about a location dedicated to childhood happiness being abandoned instigates the the strangest feelings. We are glad to have been able to visit such a place, especially in a country where the antiquated and abandoned is often quickly re-purposed or replaced.

Abandoned amusement parks are always fun to explore. We were fortunate to catch the owner and be able to go inside. Thanks for checking out the photos!

[…] children, now defunct and dilapidated. We just had to check this place out. If you enjoyed the photos, we hope that you also enjoy the video of us acting like adult children in this deserted […]
ah! i read about this on chincha recently and have been wanting to go! i love abandoned and creepy places! was it hard to get in touch with the guy to let you guys in?
We were told by many people that we couldn’t go inside but after just hanging out at the front gate for a little while, the owner approached us and let us in. He usually hangs out inside his office in a two story faded orange building on the premises. You could always so and find him there and ask for permission. There is also a phone number to call him on the gate, but since he speaks no English you’ll have to be comfortable speaking Korean.
Good to know! thanks!
Yongma Land is where KPop girl group “Crayon Pop” filmed their “Bar Bar Bar” music video.
Was researching Yongma land in search for a Halloween themed post and came across this blog. Amazing and such refreshing content. Love how you guys are so energetic and active in Korea.
